🩷 Rest... An Act of Kindness to Others

Hello friend,

I hope you've had a good week.

Before we dive into today's newsletter, I wanted to let you know that there won't be a newsletter next weekend because I'm away. I'll be in the UK for the weekend, taking part in the Run for Nature at Chester Zoo. The race is on Sunday, but I am going to try to rest on Saturday in preparation (the subject of rest ties in neatly with one of today's doodles).

Onto your weekly digest...

✏️ Doodle Essays

The first of this week's doodle essays is about one of my favourite subjects: rest. The second is a cheeky to-do list reality check 😬

📚 Read

Here are some articles from other creators I thought you might enjoy:

  • Frameworks by Mike Fisher (the teacher in me loves a framework; this is a great article illustrating their value).
  • Is Burnout More Than Just a Work Thing? by Psychology Today (while burnout is technically defined as an occupational phenomenon, I've always felt it extends to other areas of life; what do you think?).

If you're curious about the books I'm reading, you can see my library in Tana here: Library.

📺 Watch

I love Naomi from Todoist's videos. This one is all about time blocking:

Next week, I am delivering an in-person course on public speaking (there are a few spaces still available). If you are interested in improving your speaking skills but cannot access the session, I recommend watching this TED Talk from Julian Treasure. Recorded over a decade ago, it is a masterclass in speaking so that people want to listen.

🧰 Tools

reMarkable's latested notepad device, the Paper Pro Move, is all over my YouTube feed. I tried the larger reMarkable a few years back and it wasn't for me, but this size looks far more practical...

🎧 Listen

At this point in the newsletter, I would usually recommend a selection of podcast episodes, but honestly, I've not listened to much this week. I feel a little uninspired by my current podcast feed.

So instead, I am asking you: What is your favourite podcast?

It does not have to be specifically about productivity or wellbeing. Perhaps it is related to a special interest. Please reply to this email and let me know, and I will share those that I listen to in a future newsletter. Thank you.

That's all from me today. Have a great week, and I will be in touch again in two weeks.

Best wishes,

Martine

Hello friend, I hope you've had a good week. I have some great articles, podcasts, and videos to share with you this week, I'll get straight to it! Here's your digest... ✏️ Doodle Essays This week's doodle essay was inspired by an article I read a while back. The article, written by Miski Omar, describes the overwhelm we can feel due to the "tyranny of being reachable" and how we often use responsiveness as a proxy for care. My doodle encourages us to slow down and rethink this tendency. I...

Hello friend, I hope you are well. It's been a busy week—one where I have absolutely had to take my own advice about choosing what not to do. How about you? When things get hectic, I rely heavily on my well-established systems and routines, such as my daily start-up and shut-down and my weekly plan and review. They’ve proved their worth again this week—and it’s prompted me to pull together a simple guide explaining all of my systems. I will share it with you soon. Here's your digest for this...

Hello friend, Happy November. Thank you to everyone who purchased my new masterclass, Trust Your Task List. I’ve told the world (well, social media!) that the launch price ended yesterday, but—between us—I won’t have time to update the website until tomorrow. So you still have another day to grab the masterclass at this special price. If you’ve ever been curious about how I manage the various contexts, projects, and tasks in my life and want to do similar in Todoist, here’s the link you need:...
