🧢 Breaking Projects Into Tiny Tasks

Hello friend,

It's good to be back in your inbox. For the benefit of new subscribers who have joined us over the past fortnight, this is usually a weekly newsletter. However, I have been on holiday, so I decided to pause (in all ways) for a couple of weeks.

Despite my well-documented love of routine, the pattern disruption effect of this holiday has been positive. I talk more about this in my latest voice note. Honestly, I'm still experiencing a bit of a post-holiday limbo, but I'm choosing to lean in and see where it takes me (I mention this in my latest /Now page update).

I hope you've had a great few weeks. Here's your update for todayπŸ‘‡

✏️ Doodle Essays

Here are my mini essays from the past few weeks:

If you want the doodles, here they are:

🎧 Listen

Here are two podcast episodes I enjoyed listening to this week:

And for something completely different...

Thanks to Rachel for introducing me to a new podcast: Abi Clarke: Zookeeper in Training. I am running the Chester Zoo 10K (Run for Nature) in September, so this has been a fun (and very different) listen.

I listen to podcasts in the Snipd app, but you can find shows and episodes I recommend wherever you like to listen to podcasts. Use my referral link to get a month of Snipd Premium for free.

That's all from me today. Have a great week, and I will be in touch again next weekend.

Best wishes,

Martine

Hello friend, Happy weekend to you. My favourite doodle this week introduced the term Popcorn Brain. I'm pretty sure it is not just me who finds this idea a bit too real and relatable. It perfectly captures that feeling of a jittery, overstimulated brain; something many of us experience far too often. I'm making small changes, though, and one is linked to another of this week's doodles about mobile phone use. I've moved my mobile back into my home office for overnight charging, which means I...

Hello friend, I hope you've had a good week. Before we launch into this weekend's digest, I want to let you know I'm taking an early summer break, so you will not hear from me for the next two weekends. I plan to be back in your inbox on 5 July. While I am away, don't forget you have access to my archives: Newsletters Doodles and Articles Podcasts OK, that's it for housekeeping. My favourite doodle this week was inspired by Stoicism. Epictetus said that every situation presents us with two...

Hello friend, I hope this week has been kind to you. As you can see from the subject of this email (and my first doodle essay AND this week's podcast episode 😬), I celebrated a little personal milestone this week: a year off the booze. I was always a bit nervous about sharing my intentions to take a break from alcohol, as people are always going to make some uncomfortable assumptions. But I'm glad I did, and I am also happy I got past those tricky first few weeks and am where I am now, as I...
