✅ Get on Top of Your To-Do List, Today

Hello friend,

Happy weekend to you. Before we get into today’s digest, I wanted to share something I’ve been working on.

Over the years, I’ve lost count of how many people have asked how I manage all my tasks and projects in Todoist. While Todoist offers built-in templates, they’re not the same as seeing someone walk you through their setup and explain the thinking behind it.

So I’ve finally pulled everything together into a new masterclass: Trust Your Task List.

It’s under an hour, practical, and includes my full setup and checklist, plus two months of Todoist Pro free. It’s available now at a special launch price, which will increase on 31 October.

Let's get to that digest now...

✏️ Doodle Essays

I have two doodle essays for you this week.

The first explains a little more about how I manage tasks and projects and distinguishes between a to-do list and a today list (it shares just a little of what you will find in my masterclass). This is an essential distinction for managing task overwhelm.

The second doodle complements my latest voice note about sleep and shares a technique to help you fall asleep when you wake in the middle of the night: cognitive shuffling.

I've been thinking about sleep (while not sleeping!) a fair bit recently. Things are improving, though, as I explain in my latest voice note: Three Changes I've Made Recently That Have Improved My Sleep.

Incidentally, I recorded this voice note before I created my cognitive shuffling doodle. I hadn't tried the technique at the time of recording, but I had tried it when I did the doodle. TL;DR: cognitive shuffling is definitely worth a try, as are the things I mention in the voice note.

Here are some articles from other creators I thought you might enjoy:

  • As an introvert who often struggles to understand extroverted friends describing FOMO (fear of missing out), I found this article interesting. JOMO (joy of missing out) is often championed as the antidote to FOMO, but it's not quite as simple as it sounds when you factor in social anxiety. This sent me down a fascinating research rabbit hole...
  • I liked how this article on why time felt slower when we were kids provided a slightly different take on mindfulness: "It’s about experiencing life rather than spectating".

If you're curious about the books I'm reading, you can see my library in Tana here: Library.

📺 Watch

As someone who used to teach young people in further education, this video made my heart sing. I really love this young creator's reasons for designing a personal curriculum and their approach. Bravo!

🎧 Listen

Sleep has been on my mind recently, as you can tell, so I enjoyed listening to the latest episode of Busy Doing Well, as well as this episode of What's My Age Again?

Also, (I appreciate that this health perspective might not interest everyone), this episode of Liz Earle's Wellbeing Show about female hormones was enlightening.

I listen to podcasts in the Snipd app, but you can find shows and episodes I recommend on your preferred podcast platform. Use my referral link to get a month of Snipd Premium for free.

That's all from me today. Have a great week, and I will be in touch again next weekend.

Best wishes,

Martine

P.S. Don't forget to check out my new masterclass. Thank you 🤩

Hello friend, With the end of 2025 being so close, I'm in a reflective mood. I thought it would be fun to look back at the year through my doodles. I created 150 doodles this year. Because there are so many, I have selected my top 12 to share in today’s digest. Choosing favourites was difficult. While I am pleased with the artwork in some, most were chosen because of the message they convey. I encourage you to read the short essays that accompany each one. You might find it helpful to...

Hello friend, With just 18 days left in 2025, now is a great time to reflect on the year and think about next year. To help, this weekend's digest has an annual review flavour. I am sharing several doodles, articles, and podcasts from my archive to support your reflection and goal-setting. I hope you'll consider running some personal experiments alongside your goals next year and see how that feels (if you haven't read Tiny Experiments for inspiration yet, now would be a great time). I also...

Hello friend, I've been feeling that "end of year" energy this week. What about you? I like the emphasis on slowing down a little, reflecting, and planning rest. On the subject of rest, I'm going to take a couple of weeks off over the holiday period. This means I won't send a weekend digest email on 27 December or 3 January. I've already started planning my last two digests of the year for you, though, and I am excited to send them. Next weekend's email will have an annual review and planning...
